Goddess Boot Camp Oh My Gods Tera Lynn Childs Books

Tera Lynn Childs knows how to whip up a fun, flirtatious story! Goddess Boot Camp, the sequel to Oh. My. Gods., continues the story of Phoebe, a normal girl who found herself transported to an isolated island in Greece when her mom is remarried. At the end of the first book, she learns of her status as a descendant of the goddess Nike. Now she is suffering the consequences of that realization.

Being the descendant of a God or Goddess sounds all fun and laughter, but it is a big responsibility. It comes with powers, the responsibility of keeping the life secret from non-descendants, and the isolation of Serfopoulos- the island where the Gods school is. Phoebe is a closer descendant than most of the other kids at her school, which means her powers are even more powerful, and therefore more difficult to control. All she has to do is daydream about the ocean and her living room is saturated. One thought about her annoying stepsister as leaves her covered in frosting and very unhappy. The problem? Her unpredictable powers have put her on the radar of the Gods, and if she can't get them under control, there is some serious smoting in her future- no one wants to be smoted!

Now, in addition to training for a marathon at the Pythian Games and dealing with her boyfriend spending a lot of time with his beautiful ex-girlfriend Adara, Phoebe has to attend Goddess Boot Camp. To make matters worse, Boot Camp is run by her irksome stepsister Stella and Adara and Phoebe is the oldest one there by 6 or 7 years! The summer is full of misunderstandings, power malfunctions, heartbreak, and the truth about Phoebe's father's death, but even with all that seriousness, there is still fun, goofiness, and laughter!

This is a fun follow-up to the first book with plenty of Greek mythology and teenage goings-on to keep a wide range of readers happy and engaged. Childs does a good job of writing complete books that don't leave the reader hanging, but still continuing the story of Phoebe and her misfit Gods and Goddesses. The story is very clean and appropriate for all ages, much like the first story. It would be acceptable for middle school through high school students. While the mythology is the background of the story, it doesn't go into a great deal of depth into the mythology. Still, the series is a lot of fun and will make you wish you were descended from the Gods!

Goddess Boot Camp Oh My Gods Tera Lynn Childs Books Reviews

Wen I first ordered the book I was under the impression I was getting the desk jacket. When I arrived it didn't have the jacket on it. I was slightly dissapointed but otherwise the book in good shape.
I love fictional novels involving greek myths and if you liked the first one youll love this one for sure
I read the first book and I loved it...... I read this book and I absolutely loved it! Amazing! It is a great book and seems so real with all the teen struggles, even though it is fiction.
Do you want to read a super story with sassy characters and a great plot? Then you should probably read THIS book.

I love love loved this story, and I couldn't put it down. The author has a way with words that will make you laugh out loud and fall in love all at the same time.
This book is the second in the series and I expected to see more use of powers and more intense training because that's what boot camp is. The focus was more on the storyline, not her powers or practicing. Still, it was a good read but easily forgettable and I'm not sure if I'll buy any more in the series
This was a cute sequel, and honestly I had more fun reading this one than I did reading the first one. Mainly, because it contained more of the mythology and the magic. There were some loose ends that weren't addressed (like the mystery of Nicole) so I do hope that a third one is underway. For Young Adult Fantasy, these books are definitely aimed at girls only, but with strong, decisive young women that are not always found in the genre. Also, these books are clean, fun, entertainment. I definitely will be keeping an eye out for this author's work.
Phoebe Castro has had nearly a year to come to terms with the fact that she's descended from the Greek goddess Nike, and while she has fully accepted the change, she still can't control her powers. Now, the gods are threatening her with a test, so her stepfather enrolls her in Goddess Boot Camp for the summer. Meanwhile, Phoebe, a long distance runner, is also training for the Pythian Games' trials with her boyfriend Griffin, and trying to control her jealousy when she sees him with his ex-girlfriend Adara. She's also pretty desperate to find out the truth about how her father died. Can Phoebe make it through boot camp, pass the test, make the team, and keep it together with Griffin?

I loved this book just as much as the first one. One of my favorite things about this series is that Phoebe is a runner; her dedication to this hobby gives her character a depth that not all heroines have, and it adds to her relationship with Griffin, who is also a runner. It makes sense that they're together because they have a lot in common besides their interest in each other. I also liked Phoebe's growing relationships with her evil stepsister and her stepfather, both of whom are not quite what they appear. I really hope that there are more books in this series, because it is definitely one of my favorites.
