A Fractured Light Beautiful Dark Jocelyn Davies Books
I'm a little torn on A Fractured Light. It's the second book in a trilogy, and started to fall into the slump a lot of second books seem prey to, and yet it managed to stay just enough outside of the hole that I still really enjoyed the book. I just felt some of the middle started to stretch and drag a little more than I'd like.A Fractured Light starts out only a few days after the end of A Beautiful Dark. It comes out kicking and I was completely into it. Davies doesn't let the story start on a dull note, immediately getting into gear and I loved that. Unfortunately, after a little while, the story started to drag just a little bit. There was a lot happening, but some of it felt a little like filler. There were still important things happening, but in between those moments, there wasn't as much plot progression as I would have liked.
Thankfully, the last few chapters completely turned this novel around and had my jaw resting on the floor. There are plot twists that I didn't see coming until they were right there and I can't wait to read what comes next.
The relationship between Asher and Skye progresses, but I'm left with a strange feeling about it. Asher still gives the swoony feelings, but I'm no longer completely trusting him. Davies wrote him in such a wonderful way that even as I'm falling for his words, a tiny red flag goes up making me question the true motive behind his every word. Even with those red flags, I was still completely taken with him and his charm.
A Fractured Light was a good follow-up novel to A Beautiful Dark. There were places where it could have been better, but it was still a great read that had me constantly turning the pages. I can't wait to see how Skye's story ends.

A Fractured Light Beautiful Dark Jocelyn Davies Books Reviews
Unbelievable! Great series. I love the characters and the writing is superb. Lots of twists and turns. Can't wait for book 3!
Loved this series. Very addicting.
A Fractured Light
This one picks up right where book one leaves off. I do think that they should have done what they did to someone else. Since of course there are three books there is no way that our main girl Skye could die. So that cliff hanger wasn't so bad once you think about it. Now if they would have stabbed Asher that would have been the cliff hanger from H***!!! So in book two we find out more about Skye's past as well as some VERY yummy info about someone close to her!!
"*I received a copy of this book for free to review, this in no way influenced my review, all opinions are 100% honest and my own. I also purchased books 1-3!"
A Fracture Light is the second book in the Beautiful Dark series; the book begins right where A Beautiful Dark leaves off. Skye wakes up in the cabin with Asher nearby and the constant reminder of how she was betrayed by Devin. She returns home, trying to harness her new powers and dealing with the complications of disappearing after Cassie's accident. Skye seems to have clearly chosen Asher, yet seems to question that decision when Devin is the only person who can help explain her visions. It is not the typical love triangle but close to, with the typical good vs. bad boy dilemmas (Devin being the Guardian angel and Asher being the Rebel angel). While the book does not have the intense cliffhanger the first book did, it is clearly left without resolution for the third book.
I was excited for the second installment of the series yet was unfortunately disappointed. The book had a slow moving pace, I kept reading and reading hoping for something more exciting to happen. There was more history given about the Guardians and the Rebels which was a plus. But it seemed like a filler book with a weaker plot, there was nothing really unexpected or captivating.
Overall the book was average, I am hoping the third book really sums up all the loose ends. I was torn between a 2.5 and a 3 but ended up giving A Fractured Light a 3 because even though it was a bit cliche sometimes I liked the love story between Asher and Skye as well as all the angel aspects of the book.
A Beautiful Dark left with Skye on the brink of death. Now she wakes up completely healed and with a very worried dark angel by her side. The horrible betrayal and Ash's promises make her stick with the Rebellion. But her angelic powers are still wacky and if she hopes to control them, she needs to embrace both sides of her heritage. The pressure of choosing sides becomes harder when she starts having visions of Devin. How can she choose one and destroy the other, when the truth is life needs both to survive?
The choice Skye has to make is not easy, and I love the way Davies handled it. Skye is trying to fit herself to only one side when she's clearly of both. This problem echoes in the romance as she loves Asher, but can't deny she feels something for Devin too. I would've liked more interaction between them. I thought a lot of time was wasted in the cabin. Sky didn't seem all that concerned that her aunt Jo thought she was missing or that her friend Cassie was seriously hurt. She stays there in the cabin just thinking things over and over.
Soon enough, she returns to town and then things pick up when Skye starts having visions of Devin. I thought she'd be over him after what he did during the first book, but things are never that simple. The fact is that under the Order's rule, Devin has no control over his actions. You see him struggle with this more in this sequel. His moments with Skye made me want to weep! It's so tragic. Skye feels protective of him, she still cares. Of course, this doesn't sit well with Asher. When push comes to shove, will he do what's best for Skye or the Rebellion? I'll leave that for you to read ;)
New characters are introduced in this sequel. Ardith and Gideon, both rebels, and Raven makes an appearance too. And favorite of them all, Cassie! I missed that girl. But I thought telling Cassie the secret about her powers this second time was a bit too easy. There was this who danger hanging over them, that if she told Cassie would come to harm. Yet she tells her and that's it. Nothing happens. No danger comes their way. Oh well. I can always hope for disaster in the next book!
The ending had a few twists and thrills. Sky realizes things aren't only black or white, they can be grey too. It wasn't as horrible a cliffhanger as the first one, but it still left me very excited and eager to know what comes next now that Skye has embraced her heritage.
